Additive manufacturing technologies in the nuclear energy sector.

A few days ago, we had the opportunity to participate in the exceptional Xperience Day Nuclear event, which took place at the headquarters of EOS and AMCM GmbH. The meeting brought together experts from across Europe, creating a unique space for exchanging knowledge and experiences on the use of additive technologies in the nuclear energy sector.
One of the highlights of the program was a presentation of the advanced AMCM M 8K and M 4K systems, as well as the opportunity to view the largest machines available that utilize DMLS technology. Participants had the chance to speak directly with AMCM engineers responsible for designing these solutions, discussing the future directions of industrial metal 3D printing.
During the event, special attention was given to the challenges facing the nuclear industry, such as:
- high quality requirements,
- safety,
- extreme thermal loads,
- material qualification,
- reducing lead times for key components.
Additive manufacturing is increasingly viewed as a technology capable of meeting these requirements, thanks to its ability to create complex, highly integrated structures and significantly reduce production time—from several years to several months or even weeks.
Xperience Day Nuclear was not only an opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, but also an inspiring forum for open discussion about the future of nuclear energy and the role that metal 3D printing can play in it. We returned from the event with new knowledge, valuable contacts, and ideas that can be put to practical use in our future projects.
